People Powered Politics: Introducing the Avaaz campaigning model is a free online session on Thursday 20 July, 2023 that will be led by Bert Wander, Acting CEO of Avaaz.org.
During this session, Bert will share Avaaz‘s approach to campaigning, from how to spot opportunities to develop effective strategies, communicate powerfully, and deliver impactful advocacy. Speakers:
Bert Wander is the Acting CEO of Avaaz, the world’s largest campaigning community. A former journalist and aid worker, he’s been involved in countless global campaigns, including organising major climate marches that helped secure the Paris Agreement, helping win crucial bans on the ivory trade, successfully campaigning for the regulation of social media, protecting democracy in elections, standing with human rights defenders all the over the world, and securing a global agreement to put 30% of the planet under protection.
This online event will be introduced by Mike Sunderland, one of the YDAR Network co-organizers. Mike is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication and Journalism and Programme Leader of MA Multimedia Journalism at Bournemouth University, UK.
